Outside of roster moves, NA fans got an exciting announcement from Rioter Jatt this week, as the former caster/analyst has announced he is permanently moving back to the casting team from the game balance team. Jatt’s Back, Patches Broken, Impact Hurting Often considered one of the best junglers in the world, his departure will surely be missed by the League community. We also have sad report coming from the LPL that MLXG, the famed aggressive jungler of RNG, would be retiring from the competitive scene effective immediately, citing physical reasons for the departure. With the massive lead they currently have over most of the league, and knowing they’re almost guaranteed at this point to make the playoffs, the move makes sense and continues the trend of giving Rekkles a mid-summer break. The move seems rather strange considering the team is 7-1, with their only loss coming against a surging Splyce, and could be a sign of the team wanting to rest Rekkles. Many in the community, including casters and other pros, have expressed dismay at how poorly the team has performed after signing Gorilla and SoaZ to the roster, and even outrage that Maxlore, the team’s jungler, has been revealed to be the highest-paid player in the league.Įlsewhere in the EU, Fnatic announced that Rekkles would be sitting out the team’s Friday game this week, moving Nemesis to the bot role and Academy mid-laner Magifelix to the main roster. After a 2-6 start to Summer, the decision was made to move the Academy roster up to give the players experience on stage and see if there’s some potential to make it the permanent starting roster. The org has struggled this year, going 10-16 so far, a highly disappointing result considering the roster they put together.

No, that award goes to Misfits Gaming, who announced just yesterday through the official LEC Twitter that the Misfits Academy team would replace their entire starting roster. That’s not the biggest roster swap this week though. While many were happy for Keith to finally get a shot on a new team, the move left a lot with their heads scratching, including this writer, as the young ADC has shown a lot of potential in his few short splits. They further announced that Keith would be playing in the Academy League with Olleh for the rest of the split. Many thought the move would only be temporary, or that the team would split time between the two duos, but shocked the community by announcing this week that they would be trading Deftly to Cloud9 in exchange for Keithmcbrief. The team has been struggling after a hot start to the split and recently swapped out the bot lane duo of Deftly and Olleh for FBI and Huhi, who recently swapped to support from mid-lane. The first major drop this week was a surprising roster move from Golden Guardians. GG Roster Madness, Misfits Academy Team & More A lot has happened this week, so let’s take a look at all the madness in our first ever League of Legends Weekly Recap. But this week has been anything but that, with huge roster moves both in NA and EU, and some crazy stuff happening in the regular game as well. The League of Legends scene is usually quite slow around this time of the year, with most rosters and game changes starting to quiet down ahead of playoffs and Worlds.
